Patrimony Update

  I am happy to announce that the nursing room for mothers of infant children is now available. It features two comfortable chairs, with small end tables, a minisplit for heating and cooling, and a television with a live audiovisual feed of the Mass, so that mothers may continue to participate in Mass if they need to step away. Track Lights Restored   This past week we were able to install the new track lights. The project had been unexpectedly delayed because the dimmer modules for the lights are made to order, which took about two months.   The new lights make use of a new, driverless LED technology. As it is usually the driver that fails in such lights, they should remain in service for at least twenty years.   When we took down the old lights, we also adjusted the locations of the tracks themselves, to give …

  I am pleased to announce that the parish hall restrooms are ready to be used. I thank everyone for their patience with the noise and limited restroom availability during construction.   The restrooms have five stalls for the women, two stalls and four urinals for the men. The two areas are roughly similar in square footage. Both restrooms are equipped with baby change stations. We have run electrical in place in case HVAC proves to be necessary for temperature control, though we have held off on installation to see …

  While we remain ahead of the eight week projection for the new bathrooms in the parish hall, we have fallen a bit behind our hope for a completion in six weeks on account of the unseasonable humidity. This prevent the concrete from curing quickly, which pushed that part of the project by some days. Nevertheless, we are still pushing towards completion within about two weeks. The concrete has been dyed an earthy “copper” tone (this is the only major departure from the style of the classroom bathrooms) and polished. …

Pew Kneelers Restored   As many of you are aware, the kneelers in the pews have been restored over the last week and a half. A before and after image is visible above. HVAC in Classrooms 1, 2, and 3   The HVAC for these classrooms has been entirely replaced, including the furnaces, condensers, disconnects, and flues. As I mentioned previously, the old units had been limping along since approximately 2017, when we had to replace the unit in Classroom 4. Note: Work on Classroom 3 is on Monday. Other …

OUR LADY OF GUADALUPE IMAGE   I have reached out to a wholesaler to acquire a large image (six feet tall) of Our Lady of Guadalupe for the parish hall, for the wall behind the curtain. Our Lady is the patroness of the Americas, as well as of our North American seminary, and there is a strong devotion to her in the parish. I hope to receive the image before her feastday this year, but I cannot promise that as the order process looks to be a bit complicated. Here …

  The contractors have finalized the plan for a pulley system that will draw a curtain over the Crucifix for the duration of Passiontide. They are arranging for the materials before presenting a mockup for their solution in the near future. Then we will schedule an installation using the same boom lift that we used during Holy Week this year to take measurements and make repairs to the Crucifix and altar crenellations.   The pulley rope will be installed into a channel along the Epistle-side roof slope and down the …
