Camps Sacred Heart & Immaculate Heart
These camps are scheduled for Jun 14 to 20 (Sun to Sat), and Jun 20 to Jun 26 (Sat to Fri), respectively. Camp Sacred Heart is for the boys, whereas Camp Immaculate Heart will be for the girls. Please note the dates on your calendars. The dates are arranged such that families that have both boys and girls attending will be able to pick up the boys on Sat, Jun 20 and at the same time drop off the girls.
Ages for both camps: 10 – 18. A nine year old may be considered for Camp Sacred Heart, space permitting and if accompanied by his father.
Chaplains: Fr. Curtis will lead Camp Sacred Heart; Fr. Franco will lead Camp Immaculate Heart.
Sisters & Seminarians: We will have three seminarians for Camp Sacred Heart and four sisters from the FLM community at Camp Immaculate Heart.
Cost: The camp will be $250 for the first child in a family, $200 for the second, $150 for the third, etc. Scholarships will be available for families for whom the registration fee constitutes a financial burden.
Registration: Available in the parish bookstore and office. Please get your registrations in early to secure a spot on the camp! They will be due on Sun, May 31.
P.S. We anticipate around eighty boys and sixty girls signing up for camp. Outside of some very narrow circumstances (families that used to belong to our parish but have moved away from Sacramento, families that attend Mass elsewhere but are well known to a priest that is well known to me), I am not taking children from outside the parish.
Parish Hall Kitchen
Moving forward, I have asked Brandon Blackford to keep the parish hall kitchen in good working order. He has put together a cleaning checklist that should be helpful for volunteers of parish events, and he is going to work towards photographs of cabinet contents to make it easier to identify where things are supposed to go.
One of the perennial problems that we experience in the kitchen is the “donation” of food, beverages, and paper products. Since there is generally no way to distinguish “donated” items from those reserved for an upcoming event, the former tend to sit there forever. In order to remedy this, I would like to make sure all items set aside for events are clearly labeled. Sharpies and tape will be available in the kitchen to make this easy. Furthermore, I want people to stop leaving items behind after events. These should be given away or taken home by volunteers.
Any food, beverages, or paper products that are unlabeled in the kitchen will be given away or discarded by Brandon on a regular basis. If any regular kitchen items or supplies need to be ordered or replaced, you can let Brandon know by e-mail. We will post his e-mail in the kitchen for easy future reference.
