The website is in a “complete” state now. I will continue to add various groups & activities to the “Socities” page as their leaders provide me with descriptions and photographs. I also have some plans for additional content: for example, a page on instructions and tips for serving at altar; and I will continue to refine the existing content as people alert me to typos and errors or make suggestions for improvements.
I added a WordPress plugin to the old website (sacfssp.com) called Redirection that allows for individual pages to have 301 redirects that will automatically forward traffic to the new site. It’s not perfect (modifying the .htaccess file is better), but as I don’t have direct access to the file system of the old website, it’s the best I can do for now. There may be some bookmarked pages on people’s computers or phones that do not redirect: please let me know if you experience that and I will add the redirection.
Several pages have been added over the week that will be valuable for parishioners. These are:
- https://firstmartyr.com/sacraments/ – This page has a description of all seven Sacraments with pertinent details to how and when we administer them here at the parish. It will serve as a good reference for parishioners as their children reach certain ages or when dealing with an infirm family member.
- https://firstmartyr.com/catholic-prayers/ – Here is a collection of fundamental prayers, daily prayers, the prayers after Mass that we use at various times at the parish, and some occasional prayers that may be helpful for satisfying certain penances. I call your attention especially to the Recommendation for a Departing Soul, which are prayers from a Rituale supplement that are very useful when you are assisting the dying.
- https://firstmartyr.com/sacred-music/ – An article explaining why Gregorian chant has pride of place in sacred liturgy with some select examples of various kinds of sacred music.
- https://firstmartyr.com/sermons-lectures/ – All of our remaining YouTube content, plus the Marriage Workshop and last year’s Adult Catechism series.
