Michael Davies used to be a household name in the traditional Catholic sphere. When he died in 2004, then Cardinal Ratzinger wrote a eulogy for him. Many of his lectures on history are excellent, and I would like to high-light one of those today.
One of the great preachers of the Holy Rosary was St. Louis de Montfort. Among other works, he is the author of The Secret of the Rosary. What is less known is that the great saint preached in southern France, in the Vendee region. A hundred years later, this was the only region of France that remained faithful to the throne and altar; that is, to the French monarchy and the Catholic faith. For that crime, the French Republicans ordered the extermination of the people of the Vendee.
