OTHER SUMMER WORK
- Painting throughout the campus. The courtyard, vestibule, sacristy, and classrooms have all been re-painted. We plan on moving on to parts of the church interior and the offices soon.
- 28th Avenue façade work. The wall on the south side of the church was actually pulling apart. Extensive repairs were made to that entire area.
- New corner wall and signage in the parking lot.
- Roof maintenance & repair. After seven years of continual work, the roofs of the property are now in good repair.
- LCN closers for the new storage room and mop closet.
- Architectural plans for the new hall bathrooms. This work is still pushing forward; we have just completed the construction drawings and they will soon be submitted to county for review.
- Handles & locks replaced on classroom doors.
- Electrical repairs throughout the property.
- Sound system repair.
- Fence and gate repairs.
- HVAC maintenance & repair. A side note: in the coming weeks we will be replacing the units to classrooms one, two, and three. We have kept these in service for as long as possible (classroom four’s unit was replaced seven years ago).
- Redwood tree maintenance.
- Microphone, mixer, and speaker work.
- Installation of vehicle grade outlets. These will charge vehicles of priests and visitors to the rectory.
- Guest shower in the rectory made ADA accessible. We recently hosted some elderly clergy, one of whom almost was unable to shower on account of an antiquated bath-shower hybrid. This has been fixed to make the rectory more friendly to older priests.
- Fan and ventilation system for the new mop closet.
- Dedicated outlet for the Pig Roast trailer fridge.
- Restoration of rectory laundry room closet.
- All classrooms were repaired (ceilings, outlets, etc.).
- Church vents were locked into a fixed position to maintain good airflow.
- Parish hall counter and roll-up door re-finished.
- Doorstops replaced.
- Broken outlet or switch panels were replaced.
- Lights over the confessionals were replaced and the circuit governing them repaired.
- Acquisitions: portable sound system and case, two candelabra, aspersorium, vestments, kneelers (we hope toreplace all of our kneelers with folding versions for easier storage), holy water fonts, changing table cabinet, new room signs, storage containers.
Most of the work above was carried out by parishioner contractors or volunteers. I am very grateful to them for all of their assistance in maintaining and improving the property!
