Pew Kneelers Restored
As many of you are aware, the kneelers in the pews have been restored over the last week and a half. A before and after image is visible above.
HVAC in Classrooms 1, 2, and 3
The HVAC for these classrooms has been entirely replaced, including the furnaces, condensers, disconnects, and flues. As I mentioned previously, the old units had been limping along since approximately 2017, when we had to replace the unit in Classroom 4. Note: Work on Classroom 3 is on Monday.
Other Projects
We have many other projects ongoing or recently completed. The more important of these include:
- ADA-compliant shower remodel of guest restroom in rectory, to provide for elderly clergy. We also added exhaust fans to two restrooms that lacked them.
- Replacement of sliding door in rectory laundry room.
- Painting continues. Many areas on the campus have been restored. Some of the rectory, the iron fences, the priest offices, the HVAC/electric doors of the classrooms, and some of the outdoor furniture remain.
- The 28th Avenue vestibule gate will be replaced with a sliding gate on Feb 2, to allow for opening and closing the gate when cars are parked in front of it.
- A handrail will be added to the rectory steps at that time (this is a requirement from our insurance provider).
- All the hanging nave lights have been repaired and up-graded to dimmable LED.
- String LED bulbs were installed at the picnic area and attached to a light sensor to automatically turn on at night. These will be shifted higher in the near future.
- A number of electrical issues have been repaired.
- Bulletin boards have been added to the classrooms and sacristy, as well as new informational boards added to the breezeway.
- Door sweeps will be added to several doors soon.
- Several insurance requirements were addressed (e.g. mats in front of sinks, emergency lighting).
- We hope to address the damaged section of the exterior wall of the parish hall soon, as well as the vandalism to the field fence and a number of damaged window screens.
- The parish hall restroom remodel is finally moving along at county. It had been several months with no or little communication, despite frequent attempts to contact them.
- The Our Lady of Guadalupe image has arrived and should be installed in the parish hall soon.
- The website is up and operational, and I am in conversa-tions with a professional to secure long-term hosting and maintenance, as well as “tightening” up the code to make the site faster and more responsive.
- The security camera computer has been upgraded.
- The office closet has been totally re-organized.
- The rectory and Soledad network has been repaired.
- The Passiontide veils project is moving forward quickly.
- Several repairs were made to the roofs.
- The grease trap for the parish hall kitchen was flushed.
There have been many other smaller projects that have been or will soon be completed, and we have a number of other upcoming projects that I am excited to share with you when and if they materialize.
