Consecration of the United States to the Sacred Heart
The USCCB has announced its intention to consecrate our nation to the Sacred Heart on July 4, on the 250th anniver-sary of our Independence. It is a admirable project that deserves our support. In preparation for the consecration, they are asking every parish in the nation to make 250 Holy Hours before the Blessed Sacrament, and 250 works of mercy (this is aggregated among all parishioners). In order to meet these aims, I am asking each parishioner to make one such Holy Hour and perform one act of mercy during the month of June, for the purpose of this consecration. More details are available in a letter from the bishop posted in the bulletin board.
Fence Repair
The fence on the east side of the field is in the midst of extensive repairs. The carpentry is nearly complete, pending only the top cap reinstallation. Much of the old lumber was discovered to be rotting, broken, or otherwise in disrepair and has been replaced. Any older lumber retained has been stripped and powerwashed.
On Saturday, May 23, I am inviting teenage boys to assist in oiling the repaired fence, in order to preserve it for many years to come. Drew Bolen will supervise. Work will begin after the 7 am Mass. Please contact me (Fr. Curtis) if your boys are available so that I can add you to a Signal group.
Parents: Please advise your younger children of the serious nature of carving initials or other things into the wood of the fence. Repairs are being done at significant expense of time and material; it will be a shame if it is quickly disfigured by grafitti and vandalism.
