Message from Fr. Schwab

There is great joy this year for the Priestly Fraternity of Saint Peter with the ordination of twelve new priests in Nebraska, and an additional thirteen more will be ordained from our seminary in Germany on the twentieth of this month of June. Twenty-five new priests for the FSSP! But with it comes some bittersweet news. To accompany the large number of newly ordained, there is a need for more transfers this year across North America. Therefore, I am officially announcing my transfer from St. Stephen the First Martyr Parish. I am not yet at liberty of announcing my new assignment, as the paperwork is still being processed. And the date of transfer is yet to be determined as well. But as soon as it is finalized, you will be informed. In the remaining weeks of my time here, amidst the summer camps, I will do my best to be available around the parish for goodbyes. Words cannot express my gratitude to you all for the great blessing it has been to serve as one of your priests here at St. Stephen the First Martyr Parish. You will always have a special place in my prayers, and in my heart! Please continue to pray for your priests of the FSSP.

Although Fr. Schwab announced his reassignment a couple of weeks ago, I wanted to add my own words of gratitude for his priestly service to our parish for the last three years. Father hit the ground running, this being his first assignment, and has exhibited good cheer and maintained a healthy balance in the face of a tremendous work load imposed by the demands of a busy parish. Many of his contributions have been easily seen: his fidelity to keeping the Sacraments available to parishioners, his sacramental preparation of the faithful, his visits to hospitals, his administration of the Altar Guild, and many other contributions besides. I would like to personally thank him for his good example, priestly encouragement, and dedication to common life in the rectory – things that would be entirely unseen by the faithful. I know that he will be greatly missed by parishioners and his fellow priests alike, and we wish him every blessing in his next assignment (which will be in Nashua, New Hampshire).
